LLStyle PRO Spotlight: Update Your Kitchen’s Look with Butcher Block - Budget Friendly DIY & Decor

Good news! Some small-but-mighty enhancements to the kitchen can make all the difference and get you on your way. And a good place to start is with countertops and bringing in butcher block.

A big dream for many homeowners is to renovate the kitchen. But a big issue for this wish: the costs. Between cabinetry, appliances, new lighting and more, taking on a major kitchen upgrade is a major financial commitment.

But the good news is some small-but-mighty enhancements to the kitchen can make all the difference and get you on your way. And a good place to start is with countertops and bringing in butcher block.

“Butcher block is such a timeless, classic way of bringing in natural wood looks to go with any type of kitchen design,” says Jennifer Meska, Head of Merchandise at LL Flooring. “There’s just something special about preparing meals and gathering around the beautiful wood grains and patterns that butcher block countertops offer.”

To test out this idea, social media content creator Marlena Skarke (@myownhomestyle.22) recently installed LL Flooring’s Signature Maple Butcher Block Countertop to her kitchen.

We caught up with Marlena to hear about her love for this kitchen refresh.

LL: How would you describe your home style?

Marlena: I’ve always been drawn to warm hues and neutrals with pops of color. I would best describe my looks as modern with touches of vintage.

LL: Tell us about your kitchen refresh project?

Marlena: Our project was based on tearing out an old, outdated furnace and replacing it with a bar and island to provide more of an open concept with seating, cabinet and counter space.

LL: How did you select the Unfinished Signature Maple countertop?

Marlena: We loved the color variety—the blend of light and warm wood matched our home perfectly. It’s a countertop that is simple but beautiful and holds up to all life’s messes. It was also so easy to install.

LL: What makes your new block countertops exciting to you?

Marlena: We love how it stands out and is different from any other normal marble countertop. It’s unique, original and beautiful. I love how it complements our kitchen so well. I also love how it’s resistant to scratches and stains, which is especially helpful with young children.
