New Year Home Trends: Get Ready For Twenty Twenty-FLOOR
Predictions for the hottest floor trends coming this year.
The arrival of the new year means that new trends are taking over our homes. From paint colors to furniture and everything in between, interior design is stepping into 2024 with a new slate of trendy looks.
While hardwood floors are meant to stand the test of time, they’re not immune from the comings and goings of trends. Though hardwood and stone floors have proven themselves as a design mainstay, certain colors and finishes cycle in and out of style.
Design expert Jennifer Meska, LL Flooring’s Head of Merchandising, provided some of her predictions for the hottest floor trends coming this year.
Warm blondes
Blonde floors continue to dominate the trends, though looks are trending slightly more grainy and rustic. Blondes are warming slightly as well, shifting from the almost white bleached looks popular with Scandinavian style. Hickory is a good example of this: a golden blonde tone, but with much more character (knots, cracks, etc.) than what you traditionally see in white oak.

Stone looks
We’ll see more people lean into stone flooring in 2024, from classics like porcelain tile and marble to newer home materials like sandstone, as well as synthetics like stone-look vinyl. White and soft gray marble are still popular, but warmer tones like ivory and beige pop up. We’re seeing new stones emerge as well, with softer patterns like sandstone.

Improved synthetic technology
Improved visuals in manufactured flooring are to come this year. Laminate, vinyl, and hybrid products have long touted water, scratch, and dent performance, but have lagged behind real wood floors in visuals—but technological advances in digital printing have dramatically improved the realism of these floors, as seen with LL Flooring’s exclusive Duravana and ReNature lines. While a traditional manufactured floor has 6-8 unique patterns within the style, these new products have 20+ unique patterns, limiting the number of repeat planks you will find in any room.
