LLStyle: The Top Items on our Holiday Wish List
Nothing gets us more excited than breaking out the holiday decorations to bring in festive looks to the home for this special season.
Nothing gets us more excited than breaking out the holiday decorations to bring in festive looks to the home for this special season. And, once the holiday decorating is done, there is nothing better than getting cozy by the fireplace (its mantle draped in garland of course), with eggnog in hand while dreaming and jotting down a home décor holiday wish list for the New Year.
“The holiday season is naturally a time to dream and make a wish for changes for your home,” says Jennifer Meska, Head of Merchandising at LL Flooring. “It’s a time to think big and list out all the wonderful things you can envision for 2024 in home and décor.”
So, with that, here’s a “Dear Santa” list to give you some ideas and inspiration to add wonder to your home for the holidays and into the New Year.
Kitchen Lighting Love
Maybe that track lighting above your kitchen counter feels a bit too ‘90s, or dare we say ‘80s? The good news is there are spectacular lighting options that can make your space welcoming and warm. Keeping to the kitchen, lighting can be a quick fix for a bold and rather quick stylish refresh. What gets our attention are dazzling pendant lights that come in all shapes and can capture attention and serve as a dynamic focal point of the room. Just be sure to remember to keep scale in mind.
Stairs that Spark
More often than not, staircases are positioned in key, high-traffic area of the main floor, often in the sightline at the entryway of the home. This is a grand opportunity to make the stairs a sight to behold, and one way to do that is to bring in hardwood looks that pop and standout. We especially love a two-toned stairs look that feature white or cream risers with a darker tread to drive the contrast. Find stellar stairs ideas on LL Flooring’s stairs page.
Fresh Paint? Yes Please.
Hark! ‘Tis the season every paint company to release their Color of the Year. And we are here for it: Sherwin-Williams presents Upward (a light, airy denim blue); Glidden offers Limitless (a warm neutral) while Benjamin Moore brings Blue Nova 825, which blends tones of blue and violet.
“There’s no question that a fresh coat of paint can dramatically improve and wake up a space that needs love,” says Meska. “Selecting a color can be challenge, but the best tip is to go with what you like and what corresponds to the room’s feel and consider other elements in the room that colors will work with.”
Bathroom Floors to Adore
Obviously, we can’t get enough flooring. And one place that often gets overlooked for new floors is the bathroom. Certainly, sinks and show-stopping showers elevate these spaces, but giving your bathroom sanctuary vibes really needs the right flooring.
Tile is an obvious choice given its waterproof qualities, and an option like Oceanside Oak Gray Porcelain Tile allows you to bring in cool vibes plus the factor of warm wood looks.
