This test kit complies with and/or exceeds the ASTM F-1869 standard test method for measuring the moisture vapor emission rate of a concrete sub-floor using anhydrous calcium chloride.
Moisture Test
Moisture testing ensures that you are installing over dry substrates and when it's safe to begin the installation.
Before beginning any installation over cement, test for moisture.
1. Cement must be a min of 90 days old
2. Building must be completed with window and doors installed and have the Heating, Ventilation, Air-conditioning (HVAC) fully operational
3. Three (3) Calcium Chloride tests are needed for the first 1,000 square feet. Add (1) additional test for each 1,000 square feet thereafter
4. Products such as adhesives and underlayments can have moisture limits, therefore compare testing results with the manufacturer's written instructions
pH/Alkali Test
Before beginning any direct glue installation over cement, test for excessive alkali.
Alkali is present in all cement. pH liquid test identifies the amount of alkali on the surface as excessive amounts can interfere with proper adhesive bonding.
Follow the directions supplied in the Testing Kit.
