NOVEMBER 2014 DONATIONS
In November 2014 LL Flooring helped Lay It Forward with Move for Hunger, No Barriers USA & the Junior Woman’s Club of Williamsburg!
Move for Hunger, headquartered in New Jersey, is a hunger relief organization. When moving, many people throw out non-perishable food items that could be delivered to a family in need. Move for Hunger’s movers pick up those unwanted food items and deliver them to food banks. They are currently working with over 600 relocation companies and have delivered over 4 million meals to food banks across North America.
The organization received Silver Lake Oak Laminate for a flooring project.
LL Flooring also made a monetary donation to No Barriers USA. Roots with this organization go back to 2001 when Founder and Chairman Tom Sullivan was inspired by blind adventurer Erik Weihenmayer. Sullivan decided to support Weihenmayer’s quest to reach the summit of Mount Everest, later going on to co-found No Barriers in 2005. Since then the organization has sought to empower others to discover their potential – regardless of physical condition.
“The obstacles disabled people face every day with courage and determination make what the average American stresses about pale in comparison. Lumber Liquidators is very proud to support No Barriers and their beneficiaries who consistently inspire us to be better,” said Sullivan.
A monetary donation was also made to the Junior Woman’s Club of Williamsburg (JWCW) near the company’s headquarters in Virginia. JWCW gives women an opportunity to become more involved in the community through support of various non-profit organizations. The donation went toward a sponsorship of the group’s Casino Night fundraiser. Proceeds from the event benefited Bacon Street, an organization which provides services to youth and families affected by substance abuse and/or mental health issues.
