SHELTERBOX

Hundreds of thousands of families lose everything in disasters such as an earthquake, volcano, flood, hurricane, cyclone, tsunami or conflict each year. At the forefront of international disaster relief is ShelterBox, a nonprofit organization that provides shelter and lifesaving equipment to disaster victims around the country and the world. The founders of this organization saw a need for protection from the elements following disasters and set out to provide compact, universal tool kits to displaced and homeless families.

Those in need receive boxes containing a tent for an extended family, custom made to withstand extreme weather. Essential supplies such as blankets, mosquito nets, water purification equipment, a tool kit, a stove and a children’s pack containing books, crayons and more are just a few of the items included in the kit. “It’s always a pleasure working with our friends at Lumber Liquidators, said Emily Sperling, ShelterBox USA President.

“With the company’s matching challenge, our supporters were inspired to give even more, helping us raise more than $50,000 during the week to provide shelter, warmth and dignity to families affected by disasters and humanitarian crises.”
– Emily Sperling, ShelterBox USA President

LL Flooring matched $10,000 of donations to ShelterBox, dollar for dollar, and together supporters contributed over $50,000! Thanks to many generous donations, ShelterBox provided aid to families affected by the recent tornadoes in Oklahoma, including Afton and her son Colton (above).

We are proud to partner with them during Big ShelterBox Week and year-round.

Since ShelterBox was founded, victims of more than 200 disasters in over 85 countries have been provided emergency shelter thanks to donors, volunteers and supporters.
