LL Flooring was proud to support a very special holiday gift for a Virginia family by partnering with the Habitat for Humanity Peninsula and Greater Williamsburg in the organization’s build of the country’s first-ever 3D printed home.

The 1,200-square-foot home in Williamsburg, Virginia, features three-bedrooms and two-baths, all outfitted with floors donated by LL Flooring. For this special, unique home that is the first of its kind, LL Flooring outfitted the home in the new and exclusive Duravana Hybrid Resilient Flooring styles: Silk Spire Oak and Sydney Harbor Oak. This waterproof hybrid flooring gives attractive wood looks, and advanced technology, for an advanced 3D printed home.

These European-designed floors provide a beautiful design foundation for the home through real and authentic hardwood looks, while adding double waterproof protection along with extreme wear and dent resistance. On top of it all, Duravana floors are 100 percent PVC-free and made with wood from responsibly managed forests as certified by the Forest Stewardship Council.

The new floors will be a perfect fit for the new homeowner of the 3D-printed house, April Stringfield and her 13-year-old son. The family moved into their new home just in time for the holidays in December 2021.

“Our company truly appreciates the important work Habitat for Humanity does for its communities across the nation, and we are grateful for the opportunity to donate our floors to these valued projects through our Lay It Forward philanthropic program,”

said Charles Tyson, President and CEO of LL Flooring.

“This 3-D printed home is a landmark feat, and it is exciting to see our Duravana flooring throughout this one-of-a-kind home.”

The construction of the 3D home was, quite simply, a triumph: The exterior was built in just 28 hours using an Alquist 3D printer, the company that partnered with Habitat for Humanity for the project. The concrete used by Alquist to make the 3D exterior brings in great benefits, including providing long-term savings due to better temperature retainment, plus greater resistance to tornado or hurricane damage.
